ENERIS SPORTS IMPACT FOUNDATION was chartered in the summer of 2024 by Stacey Irene Simmons. A businesswoman with no direct connection to youth sports, the idea was inspired by her desire to subsidize the participation costs of an athletically gifted teenager whose mother recently passed away. The teen and his father, an administrator in the public education system, were very special to her. She felt strongly that they were deserving of some form of support, but the more she researched travel sports, the more disheartened she became as she learned about the creation of this now 15-billion-dollar ecosystem, and the absence of any obvious formal financial assistance programs for those in need. Stacey realized the impressive rise in travel sports had inadvertently created an advantage for children from some households, and a new disadvantage for socioeconomically disadvantaged youth. Driven by her desire to create equity in this biased situation, the ENERIS SPORTS IMPACT FOUNDATION was born.
